ARE YOU A “Concerned MWR PATRON” ?

YOU are a “Concerned MWR PATRON” if you:

• Are concerned that MWR facilities are closed or services reduced without explanation, or being replaced in-kind.
• Are an Army, Navy, Marine, Air Force, Coast Guard, or DOD Civilian user of MWR activities.
• Are a user of AAFES or other Non-Appropriated Fund revenue-generating facilities.
• Are concerned about the impact of the erosion of quality of life activities on the retention of our force structure

Read the latest efforts to retain 36 holes and request the Army to delay taking any portion of the Golf Courses until sufficient funds are raised by the Army Historical Foundation to start vertical construction. Currently the AHF has raised approximately $30mil of the required $160-200mil.

The Army has responded to our letters that it is the Army's "intent" to retain 36 holes at Fort Belvoir. The draft Environmental Assessment currently under development will accomodate the Army's intent. The draft EA has been delayed for public comment.

There should be no construction on the Golf Course in 2010 as the 2010 MILCON Project for Infrastructure Construction was deleted from the Army Budget.

WE don't need YOU to send any letters or emails to Commanders or politicians until we see the the revised EA. At that time the letters and emails will be revised.
