February 15, 2008 Concerned MWR Patrons Hello, The Organization of Concerned MWR Patrons is gathering information to assess the impact of the possible construction of the National Museum of the U.S. Army (NMUSA) on land used by the Fort Belvoir Golf Facility (North 36). It appears the Army will build the NMUSA on 85 acres of land currently used by the North-36 golf courses and open it to the public in 2013. Reportedly, the Army's planning concept envisions a 27-hole layout as being sufficient for Fort Belvoir's golf facility needs. This questionnaire's purpose is to obtain the views of MWR patrons of the Fort Belvoir Golf Facility (FBGF) North-36, concerning the impact of reducing the 36-hole layout to 27 holes. This questionnaire is being distributed to FBGF golfers including active duty/reserve component, DoD civilian personnel, and retirees. Your responses to this survey will be included in our larger study, which assesses the operational, financial, social, and political impact of NMUSA construction plans. The information you provide will be considered anonymous input with the data collected reported only in the aggregate. You may view the survey results on our web site (www.concernedmwrpatrons.org) in April, 2008 when we will publish the Impact Study and forward it to Army Leadership. This survey is intended to obtain an objective assessment of your views. We have not structured the questions to lead you to the conclusion that you should be opposed or in favor of a 27-hole golf layout. The survey should take 20 minutes to complete. We would like your responses NLT March 7th. We encourage you to get other Fort Belvoir golfers to take this survey whether they are annual members or pay daily green fees, active duty or retired, men or women. If, as eligible MWR patrons, they play golf at Fort Belvoir, we value their views. To obtain their perspectives, you may have them contact me by email at tedcummings@verizon.net or go directly to the following link and take the survey. http://www.surveymethods.com/EndUser.aspx?82A6CAD084C0D3D8 . I would ask that you not try to influence their views in any way prior to their taking the survey. Thanks for your time and thoughts.
